Budget friendly good accommodation at BR Hills
A quick unplanned trip to Bilagiri Rangana Betta (BR Hills) forced me to look for accommodation at this small hill top. This search brought me to the Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) managed "Mayura" group of hotels. Many of the hotel reservation portals and travel web sites showed that the rooms were not available here. Luckily a check directly only the KSTDC web site showed that a room was available. I made the booking directly using the KSTDC web site, and found it to be very convenient and safe to use.
Reached the hotel by after noon. The hotel has ample parking space for four wheelers and is very close to the hill temple which is also a primary attraction for the visitors. In fact the 'Gopuram' (tower) of the temple can be seen from the hotel parking area. The room allotted to me was spacious and had all the basic comforts in place. A working intercom, LED TV with many channels available, air conditioner unit, cupboards, writing table and a big king size bed. The bath room had both cold & hot running water, and was neat and clean as well. The room also had a spacious balcony, from where a very beautiful view of the valleys and smaller hillock down below could be seen. In the evenings very cold wind also blows from that direction, which takes away the need to have an air conditioner running. In the night, the lights glowing from the villages & small towns in the valleys below gives a feeling of many dragon flies glowing at a far distance.
On the day I checked in, the hotel had arranged a tribal music & dance program by the local cultural group at BR Hills. This was good to watch, and the best part was many of the visitors at the hotel also joined the group and danced.
The hotel takes up the last order for dinner at 2030Hrs, which for many city dwellers would be very early. Also the breakfast starts only at 0830Hrs which may be inconvenient for visitors who plan to return very early. The hotel could also place a small telephone directory at each room, as I found that even though the intercom worked there were no numbers listed to reach the reception or the kitchen.
The politeness and friendly attitude of the hotel manager Mr. Mahadevaswamy has to be appreciated. He was readily reachable on phone and also ensured that check in and checking out process was easy and quick.

Relaxing place for weekend from Bangalore
I stayed with my wife at this place in Aug 22 and had was treated with excellent weather whole day. The place is near to BR hills bus stop and location is good with scenic backdrop behind. You will enjoy this view, if you stay in AC rooms. It gets misty during early morning and evening with strong breeze during this time and we enjoyed every bit of it. They have a tribal dances/show during weekends which is good and also encourages guests to join their dance. Food is not covered in package and you need to pay & eat in canteen which is attached to the same building.
One thing which they need to improve is, the timing on serving food. They start serving breakfast only after 8:30 in the morning and dinner is like 8 PM which sometime may not be adaptable by guest. Activities are like visiting temple which is good location and also drive/safari at KGudi

Very comfortable and hassle-free stay
KSTDC Mayura chain of hotels are now unlike before. They are well maintained, well equipped and clean with good services.
Mayura Biligiri is no different and we had a wonderful experience. The AC Deluxe rooms and attached bathrooms were clean. Food though with limited options is the best possible offered in whole of BR Hills. Location is serene and is closest to the temple. Manager and staff were courteous and helpful. Free WiFi is available.

Decent stay with good enough food
Its the only choice available atop BR Hills. Typical KSDTC hotel - nothing luxurious but decent enough (not bad). Staff is quite accommodative and responsive. Food there is just OK but manageable for 1 night stay. For the price you pay, it is not bad at all. It is located very close to the temple. We booked the non-ac room as we expected it to be cold up there and it was! There is hot water but with bucket - no shower, we didnt mind. Beds and linen were clean.

Very Cozy Experience
Awesome people, great hospitality, good food, great location. Could view the sunrise and sunset from balcony. cleaned rooms. well maintained. great staff. thanks a lot folks. It was great time together with friends
