We highly recommend La Majon de Fohten
It is this guesthouse that we highly recommend and for the following reasons. Of course our experience is personal.
1. Cleanliness of the rooms
We chose the "Martine" room (with a view of the mountains (Mont Avic), spacious, flat screen, large wardrobe and storage space spacious enough for a week, which is not often the case in guest rooms. ) with a shower room and new sanitary facilities. The cleanliness and quality of bedding and bath towels is a priority for us. Thank you for seeing to that. Our bed sheets and bath towels were changed after 3 days (which is not a requirement I think). Our bed was also made. We also prioritize the quality of the bedding, so we had very comfortable nights.
2. Breakfast
At breakfast, we were welcomed by Egle who also speaks French. Breakfast consisting of eggs (for those who want them), homemade jams (I loved the peach one), several varieties of cheese, 2 “homemade” cakes, several varieties of tea, coffee, oatmeal , walnut kernels and hazelnuts, yogurts, almond "milk" (if intolerance), cow's milk, fruits (apples and pears, etc.).
3. Reception, tourist advice and infrastructure
Marco, who also speaks French, gave us 3 small books containing the most beautiful hikes to take during our stay and which corresponded to our request. Marco takes care of the maintenance of the exteriors and we congratulate him on the cleanliness of the premises, a huge maintenance task for him. Marco having to undergo surgery (physically absent for personal reasons therefore) made him physically absent for several days. As compensation and we accepted, he offered to put at our disposal the entire kitchen (hyper-equipped) and in the fridge (cakes, jams, cheeses, breads for our lunches) which suited us well (we therefore had no obligation of time for breakfasts We were able to have all the infrastructure just for us. Barbecue, huge terrace, swing (yes at my age, I enjoyed swinging :-). , Marco and Egle kept contacting us to ask if we were missing anything. His partner Egle, a real mountain guide, provided us with all the detailed advice and documents allowing us to explore the region (. visits to waterfalls, mountain hikes, etc.) Finally, she also gave us the different addresses for evening meals (restaurants and pizzeria to discover).
4. Landscapes
And what about the places around us? A magnificent and rejuvenating region. Mountains and magnificent lakes... A haven of peace and autumn colors that give us a lot of energy. Finally, we were lucky to have had sunny weather for a large part of our stay.
In conclusion and based on our personal experience, we will definitely come back. Thank you to Marco and Egle for all your work and attention to make our stay unforgettable.
